Set out below is a brief precis of the Continuing Professional Development rules. For full details, please use the link to the Solicitors Regulation Authority website at www.sra.org.uk/cpd and refer to the guidance notes set out there.
- All solicitors admitted to the roll must comply with the requirements of the CPD scheme.
- The CPD year runs from 1 November to 31 October.
- Newly admitted solicitors must complete 1 hour of CPD for each complete month worked from the date of admission or registration to 31 October.
- All other solicitors must complete 16 hours of CPD per one-year period.
- Solicitors who have not been in legal practice or employment for a period of time may be able to suspend their CPD requirements, but should contact the SRA to clarify their position on 0870 606 2555.
