Canterbury Pride

Kent Law Society is proud to sponsor Pride Canterbury and on Saturday 10th June President of Kent Law Society Louise Duckett and all members of the new Kent Law Society Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Sub-Committee will mark the formal launch by gathering at 11am to participate in the Pride parade around Canterbury and support its Mission Statement: ?To promote a diverse culture, inclusive practices and opportunities for persons within the legal profession, including those who have entered into the legal profession via alternative routes, and supporting persons who are entering into the profession irrespective of gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, age and religion (list is not exhaustive)??

At the end of the Parade, the plan is to gather at Dane John Gardens.

Developing Menopause Intelligence in the Workplace  Tuesday 25 January 2022 - 
12.30 pm - 1.30 pm - free lunchtime webinar provided by Devon & Somerset Law Society, open to KLS members. How to make menopause an open and inclusive subject, one that that no one is embarrassed or uncomfortable talking about, thereby creating a supportive environment in which employees feel supported. Informing and educating leaders and managers to understand what menopause is, how it can affect an employee, how they can talk about it and how an organisation can support those going through the menopause means that they can have the right conversations and provide the right support. Making menopause awareness a priority not only makes your organisation an inclusive and supportive place to work, but also improves your organisation's performance.  
 FEBRUARY Careers talks for law students - Tuesday 22nd February event, Grimmond Lecture Theatre 2, University of Kent, networking from 5.30 pm with law students and panel discussion from 6.00 pm with representatives of different specialisms within the profession. Main speakers are Richard Atkinson, Nick Fairweather, Louise Duckett and Alexandra Gordon, but any KLS members welcome to participate and share their experience with students.  Please register your interest with
Curling event at Fenton's Ice Rink - Saturday 26 February at 4.00 pm.  KLS and TWTLS. Two hour session with basic training from expert curlers, followed by an inter law society competition. £30 per head - apply to   FLYER
 MARCH Another Seat at the Table  - Diversity and Inclusion One Hour Free Online Workshop, for lawyers, business owners and practice managers - facilitated by Mary Eniolu and run jointly by Kent and Surrey Law Societies - Thursday 3 March - 5.30 pm for one hour  - DETAILS     BOOK HERE

Student and Junior Lawyer Mixer - virtual event - Thursday 10th March 6.30pm - 8.00 pm.  In speed-dating style, you will be placed in small groups and will get the chance to meet a number of legal professionals across different fields and ask them your questions!
