  • Get ready! On Thursday 29th September Kent Law Society and Kent Law School will be hosting a 'Charity Moot off'- Lecturers vs Practitioners. Per Laleng and Guevera Leacock will lead the charge for the lecturers against practioners Matt Champ of Boys and Maughan and Stuart Snow of Stour Chambers. The evening's fun will include a 'raffle with a twist' with great prizes to be won such as  £250 Amazon voucher. All proceeds collected will be divided equally between support for students attending court on the SOCs, and the KLS President's charity Prostate Cancer UK.  The moot will open at 6pm for a 6.30pm kick off at Woolf Lecture Theatre, University of Kent Campus.   • Law Care has announced its 25th anniversary conference on the theme of 'Building a Better Life in the Law'. It will take place as an online activity 9am to 5pm on 28 September and feature leaders from across the profession who are pioneering new ways of working. They will share their experience of improving culture in law through an interactive programme of plenaries, panel discussions, workshops and breakout sessions. To find out more click HERE.
  • Junior lawyer bowling event Thursday 6 October. Kent Law Society is subsidising an evening event for its junior members at Hollywood Bowl in Maidstone.
  • Tickets include two games, a drink, nachos to snack on during the matches and a meal after - all for £15. Places are limited so anyone who would like to attend needs to email as soon a possible to book their toicket and secure their place. 
  • An evening to promote the work of the Mediation Clinic. On Friday 14 October a networking evening with drinks and canapes will be held by Canterbury Christ Church University at St Martin's Priory, North Holmes Road, Canterbury CT1 1PW to promote the work of the Clinic; its ethos is to deliver a quality, professional dispute resolution service to support local needs and offers commercial mediation as well as family mediation and workplace mediation.   • Race for Inclusion is the title of the round table planned by the Law Society to discuss, highlight, and identify how best to implement some or all of the recommendations from the Law Society's 2020 report on how the profession can progress race equality for black and minority ehtnic members. The round table will take place on 20 October - more details to be released. 
  • Chipping away at the glass ceiling. Her Honour Judge Sarah Davies will headline the 2022 Tucker Millward Memorial Lecture which takes place on Thursday 10 November at Grimond Lecture Theatre 1, University of Kent Canterbury Campus, Canterbury. The event starts at 6pm. HHJ Sarah Davies will discuss the legal profession as well as her inspirational career path to the circuit bench. Entry is free but a booking is required.   • Kent Law Society, Canterbury Christ Church University and Women in Law Kent are working together to organise a very special event at the end of this year to mark a major milestone - the 100 years since Carrie Morrison became the first woman in England to be admitted as a solicitor. For now, please hold the date in your diaries - 7th December 2022. We will upate everyone here as soon as more details become available.

Developing Menopause Intelligence in the Workplace  Tuesday 25 January 2022 - 
12.30 pm - 1.30 pm - free lunchtime webinar provided by Devon & Somerset Law Society, open to KLS members. How to make menopause an open and inclusive subject, one that that no one is embarrassed or uncomfortable talking about, thereby creating a supportive environment in which employees feel supported. Informing and educating leaders and managers to understand what menopause is, how it can affect an employee, how they can talk about it and how an organisation can support those going through the menopause means that they can have the right conversations and provide the right support. Making menopause awareness a priority not only makes your organisation an inclusive and supportive place to work, but also improves your organisation's performance.  
 FEBRUARY Careers talks for law students - Tuesday 22nd February event, Grimmond Lecture Theatre 2, University of Kent, networking from 5.30 pm with law students and panel discussion from 6.00 pm with representatives of different specialisms within the profession. Main speakers are Richard Atkinson, Nick Fairweather, Louise Duckett and Alexandra Gordon, but any KLS members welcome to participate and share their experience with students.  Please register your interest with

Student and Junior Lawyer Mixer - virtual event - Thursday 10th March 6.30pm - 8.00 pm.  In speed-dating style, you will be placed in small groups and will get the chance to meet a number of legal professionals across different fields and ask them your questions!
